Transportation is one of the most important factors and has many importance in a country’s development. Before the airplanes, there were many other sources of transportation like Horses, camels, carts, cars, buses and trains but these sources were not much faster.
The Wright Brothers made several experiments to invent the first ever airplane and now we can see that the airliners’ industry is one of the largest industries of the world. The airplanes are not only used for passenger’s transportation but for military and cargo purpose too.
In this post we are going to explore 5 amazing and greatest aircraft that will stun you.
Airbus A300-600ST Beluga Super Transporter
This super transporter was initially known as wide-body airliner, but because of its resemblance to Beluga Whale it became famous as Airbus Beluga and than officially announced as Beluga.
Beluga is a cargo aircraft and was specifically designed to fulfill airbus’ own needs as they wanted to carry complete sections of their aircraft from different production sites to Toulouse or Hamburg where they have the final assembly lines for their aircraft but later due to its popularity and heavy duty many third parties shown their interest in this aircraft and till now Airbus has received orders of 11611 Beluga aircraft from many third party companies and countries.
The Beluga is capable of carrying loads up to about 47 tons.
Double Story houses, Double Decker buses and this time double decked planes. Here is another stunning product of Airbus i-e A380. A380 is the world’s largest passenger aircraft and has the highest capacity of all passenger aircraft that can carry about 853 passengers along with 20 crew staff.
A380 has two decks on it where 538 passengers can be adjusted in main or lower deck and 315 on the upper deck. Many airports expand their facilities so they can host this aircraft properly.
With its 4 engines and a friendly design, A380 can cover about 15,400 kilometers in a single flight.
Antonov An-225 Mriya
Antonov An-225 Mriya, the largest and the heaviest aircraft in the world only had one completed flight. It was designed by the Antonov Design Bureau to transport the Buran Orbiter (Buran was a Soviet Spaceship) and took its first flight on 21st December 1988.
Later because of Soviet Union’s collapse, the Buran space program was cancelled and the only An-225 aircraft was placed in a storage.
Concorde was one of the two supersonic airliners that were designed to transport passengers at the speed of sound or even greater than the speed of sound. The other one was Tupolev Tu-144 by Soviet Union(Both of these airliners are now non-operational).
Only 20 aircraft of this type were built but because of heavy cost and later the only terrible crash of Concorde in 2000, their flight operation was stopped and the last flight was occurred in 2003.
Later in 2008, an American firm announced to launch its program to build supersonic jets that will cover the distance from London to New york in just three hours. The program is expected to be completed by 2015.
Bartini Beriev VVA-14
Bartini Beriev VVA-14 was another amazing aircraft that was designed in such a way that it was able to take-off from water and fly over long distances at high speed. It was designed by Robert Bartini, who was able to launch its first flight in 1972 after an extensive research and many experiments but still there was much more to do in this aircraft.
The project was slowed down and later closed after the death of Bartini in 1974. Now there is only one VVA-14 left and still resides in Russian Federation Central Air Force Museum.
