Languages are a way of communication around the world. You must be able to speak and understand the language of locals where ever you are and if you are not familiar with the language spoken by locals then you won’t be able to communicate in a right way.
According to SIL ( U.S based non-profit organization ) more than 6,900 languages are spoken in the world.
These languages include international, national and regional languages.
So, today we will take a sneak preview of some of the most amazing and interesting things about a few languages.
Khmer, the official language of Cambodia has 74 alphabets, making it the most number of Alphabets in any language, whereas Hawaiian language “Rotokas” has only 12 letters making it the least numbers of Alphabets in a language.
Papua New Guinea, a country in Southwestern Pacific Ocean has over 850 languages spoken in the country that makes it the country with most languages spoken in the world. Papua New Guinea is one of the world’s least explored country so it has been thought that more languages can be discovered in near future.
Ter Sami is the least spoken language of the world that is spoken by just two people. This language was spoken in Kola Peninsula, Russia. In 2004, only 10 Ter Sami speakers were left in the world but in 2010 just 2 of them left behind.Now this language is considered as almost dead language because after the death of these two people it will be disappeared from the world.
Sedang, a language spoken in Laos and Vietnam, consists of total 55 vowel sounds in it. So, Sedang is often considered as the largest vowel inventory in the world.
Like incredible China, the Mandarin Chinese language is also an incredible language. Chinese is one of the oldest languages in the world having history of about 6,000 years. Now Mandarin Chinese is the most spoken language of the world. One of the most amazing fact about this language is that it has four tones and all of them have different meanings.
