How many of you have seen the Hollywood movie “2012” that was based on a prediction of Mayan civilization according to which the world will be ended on December 21 2012 because in Mayan calender there is no date after 21st December 2012. What will be happened to the world on December 21 2012? Is it true that the world will be ended on this mentioned date? Lets explore some facts about the date of 21st December 2012.
Is December 21 2012 is the end of the world?
The date of December 21 2012 has acquired global attention and the awe and worldwide deliberations around this day of Apocalypse have been nothing short of an epidemic. The Apocalypse or the Doomsday implies an end of the world and the date of December 21 2012 is being considered by many as THAT day.
This belief takes its roots from the Mayan calendar, the Maya being a Meso-american civilization acknowledged for their art, architecture, mathematical & astronomical systems and for the only known fully developed written language of the pre-Columbian America. The Mayan calendar is recorded as a carving on the Aztec `sun stone’ and is, therefore, sometimes also referred to as the Aztec calendar. The calendar has no dates after the December 21 2012 and this fact has given rise to the prophecy that the world will end on this date.
Of course the prophecy is not shared by one and all and there expectedly are people – from the ordinary to scientists and astrologers who believe that December 21 2012 will be like any other day and nothing unusual is going to happen on this day. From this group of people who do not believe in the Doomsday prophecy, there are some who go as far to claim that 21st December 2012 is being deliberately and unduly capitalized upon by the `believers’ to gain either fame or money (or both) by way of selling books, ads, and the likes.

The `believers’ however claim that the Mayan civilization were obsessed with time-keeping and the Mayan calendar has been incredibly precise in terms of accurately predicting solar / lunar eclipses thousands of years into the future. That this accurate calendar mysteriously ends on December 21 2012 does signify something – the end!

According to Islam, there is no place of such predictions in our Life, only ALLAH knows what is going to be happened in the very next second. Also there are many signs that are yet to appear e-g, Sunrise from west, appearance of Jesus Christ, appearance of Imam-e-Mahdi and many other signs.

Many scientific, literary and religious theories are also finding concurrence with the Mayan calendar. For example, according to some algorithms of the Bible Code a large asteroid / comet will collide with the earth on December 21 2012.
What NASA says about December 21 2012?
NASA has also predicted that the sun will reverse its magnetic poles in year 2012 – en event which may mean that harmful charged particles blasting away from the sun are more easily penetrating the earth’s atmosphere (solar storming). NASA however has not specified any particular date(s) for this event. As per numerology each number is associated with a corresponding letter. The date 12-21-12 reads as A-B-B-A-A-B.

Considering that the Hebrew language is read from right to left, this date would read BA ABBA. The Hebrew translation for BA ABBA is “Father comes / is coming”.
However, the people looking forward to celebrate X’mas and the New Year 2013 far outnumbers those who fear the end.

Only Allah knows of the future. Nobody can predict the future of the world. A person can plan but cannot predict the future of even him/herself. In the HOLY Quraan signs for the end of the world are mentioned and they still need to be appeared.
I do believe that the end will come on 12/21/12. Then, the Mayans can finally Start selling the new calendars they’ve been sitting on for thousands of years.

I do know God and he said only the he knows the hour that Jesus Christ will return. I do believe he will return, but I also believe that we should all try just living one day , one minute at a time because not one of us is promised another minute. Try and love and not judge eachother. If we do this there wont be anymore wasted wondering about something we have no control of anyway.

Allah knows the best. if we see honestly the teachings of Muhammad (PBUH) and Quran are true and keep the human away from the fear of die and end of life or universe.

the Mayas only have this calendar, which ends by 21st of December 2012 – but the Mayas never said, that this will be the end of the world. – it were others who claimed doomsday and the press found their “big meal”. obviously the Mayas mean that something will occur – but not “end of world” … why is Maya calendar at end ? – because the Mayas were not able to continue it, by reason of their situation, not of ours . . . ?

I dont wanna beleive it.. M a muslim but i have also heard the story of mayan people and the calendar made on sun stone.Those people predict the exact lunar calculations.It cant b wrong.But then i also beleive at the day of judgement.Besides other signs as appearence of jesus and dajal arrival, signs of simmilarity between boy and girl and people making movies againt islam..these also makes me to ponder over it again.. May be this could be the end..may be NASA proves it wrong and it will only unleash a new era or may be it will collide with metores or black hole.. Just a few questions before we go – what timezone will count? As some of us know, and possibly even acknowledges, the Earth is spherical and rotates around an axis. A new day woun’t dawn at the same moment on every spot on our planet. Which time zone is the one?
If the world ends at December 21, 00:00 hours UTC -6 (Central American time) – will Sweden succumb seven hours later, at 7 o’clock in the morning? Or will we Swedes pass into a possible afterlife seven hours BEFORE Central America, when the clock says 17:00 (5 in the afternoon) Thursday 20, in Central America?
Will the people of Anchorage, Alaska, meet their maker already at Thursday, December 20 at 21 hours (9 in the evening)in their local time – or will they have to wait for 3 hours more?

We do not have a right to set the date of when the world would end becoz we r not the creators of it… only Allah knows best and signs on day of judgment are showing up but Apocalypse is not mentioned in the Quran however the sun has got connection with the end of the world .

I think it is just going to be the end of this generation and bring a new beginning for earth like we will be doing stuff differently or we will be doing the same everyday life stuff but the world is definitely not going to end 21 December 2012

A true believer will never relay on the predictions of the common people. The signs pertaining to the End of the world as mentioned in the Holy Quran are yet to be discovered. Also, as per the predictions of our beloved Prophet (SAW), a lot is still to come before the end of the world. Only Almighty Knows when it is going to happen. A person who is born has to die one day. We should pray and worship like a true muslim so as to get our rewards in the next never ending life. May God Bless You All.

Allah only know the end day . Human being have no knowledge cannot make perception on the doomsday. Allah know what will happen on December 21, 2012, but it is not doomsday.
All the knowledge about doomsday belongs to ALLAH. In Islam some other things will appear before doomsday.
People the world din’t end. Only Allah knows about the hour, its funny to see people predict about the end of the world. Did we create it? NO, “Oh man, you come from a drop of semen and you leave as a piece of dust. You don’t know when you came and you don’t know when you’re leaving. Yet you go around thinking you know everything.”
Well, it wasn’t the end of the world. Don’t do that next time.
