With just 14 years separating their birth (Bruce Lee was born in 1940 and Jackie Chan in 1954), it was Lee’s untimely death in 1973 when he was just 32, that the world was denied any major collaborative work with both these great martial artists and actors sharing the same platform – as friends or foes. Both of them had roots in Hong Kong, Lee after being born in the US was raised here while Chan was born and still resides in Hong Kong.

Comparison between Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee
Both Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee are synonymous with martial arts, yet unique and pioneer in their respective style. Chan is known more for his acrobatic fighting style and innovative stunts. Lee developed `Jeet Kune Do’, a hybrid martial arts system that works on the principle of minimal movement with maximum effect and extreme speed. Both of them showcased their martial arts skills through their acting talent in motion pictures. Lee acted in around 30 movies till his death in 1973. Jackie Chan has been acting since the 1960s and has appeared in more than 150 movies. While Lee had typically played serious and stern characters in his movies, Chan has pioneered roles involving a curious mix of action and comedy. Chan is also renowned for performing his own and some very demanding stunts in his movies, many of which have resulted in physical injuries.
Lee is often credited with changing the way Asians were portrayed in American films, Chan took the agenda to its next level with such commercially successful movies that made him a household name even in the US and other parts of the world.
Versatility however was a common trait with both of them and other than being martial artists and actors, Bruce Lee was also a film director, producer, screenwriter, philosopher and a poet. Jackie Chan is a director, producer, screenwriter, entrepreneur and a singer. Chan is also a philanthropist and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, having been associated with a number of social causes.
Bruce Lee is no more but his legacy as the ultimate icon of martial arts continues. Jackie Chan continues to enthrall the audiences worldwide with his trademark martial art skills coupled with comic antics.
very interesting and similar lives but I was wondering what happened to Bruce Lee to die so young.
drug overdose after taking a simple headache tablet, due to no tolerance for drugs, apparently.
Bruce was having a severe migraine headache and asked a female actress, that he had worked with many times before, for some aspirin. She gave him a prescribed medication and he had a allergic reaction to the medication.
The two men are really like carbon copies of each other and it is such a shame that Bruce Lee was taken so early in life because he could have been a continuing ambassador for the world. Even though his name lives on in his skills and in the films he made, just think what would have been had he still lived.

As a child actor, Bruce put out a lot of movies. His father was also a actor and got him into the business. Bruce put out more movies in China than the US. Even tho they still had to dubb his voice because he spoke Cantonese not Mandarin Chinese.
Thank you Giving This important information…
And this Site is more effective for Any one….
Thanx one’s again…
Friends. I have heard from some of.my close friends that bruce lee was killed by the chinese government for spying for US Govt….
Bruce was loved by China, He was a Superstar over there. He was never used by the Government to spy, US or China. And I believe he would have told the US to stick it where the sun don’t shine. He just would have said it very eloquently.
Considering Bruce is a martial artist that created his own style and Jackie is an actor that went to an acting/dancing academy that happened to teach martial arts as well, this seems like a stupid question to me. Not saying that is could take Jackie, but I’d rather compare an actor that happens to know some martial arts (Jackie) to a martial artist that happens to act (Bruce).
Hey Admin how about putting a real picture of Bruce Lee, that’s not Bruce. Not even close!
The question I ask when comparing anyone to Bruce Lee has always been who would win in a fight. My personal opinion is he would probably beat Jackie Chan more times than not. Bruce Lee was so good. Still enjoy watching his movies. Great story and website.
